West Ham will undoubtedly be in the market for defensive recruits in the summer and according to talkSPORT, they have their eyes on former Arsenal defender Johan Djourou.
Djourou has spent the last few years in the Bundesliga with Hamburg where for the most part he’s enjoyed some fine form and recaptured his place in the Switzerland international squad.
However, things have take a turn for the worse in recent times as Djourou, along with several other members of the Hamburg squad have been banished from first-team training for the foreseeable future and will be working with the U21s or on their own.
Out of contract at the end of the season, this has likely spelt the end for Djourou’s time in German football and West Ham are willing to offer him a route back to the Premier League this summer.
With Angelo Ogbonna and Winston Reid struggling for fitness this season, a new recruit in defence would be wise.
