Defensive cover has been a real issue for West Ham this season with a number of key players all going down with long-term injuries at one point or another.
Aaron Cresswell, Arthur Masuaku, Alvaro Arbeloa, Sam Byram, Angelo Ogbonna and Winston Reid have all had length spells on the sideline and Slaven Bilic will move to add depth to his back four in the summer.
According to French source Foot Mercato, the Hammers are interested in making a summer move for Leicester City defender Yohan Benalouane.
The 30-year-old centre-back moved to the King Power stadium in a £6m deal from Serie A side Atalanta in August 2015 but struggled to cement a place in the Foxes first-team, making just four appearances before returning to Italy on loan with Fiorentina where he failed to make a single appearance.
Things have changed this season though for Benalouane since Craig Shakespeare took over, making 11 appearances so far this season including starts in each of the last seven Premier League games.
Benalouane is a player who probably wouldn’t start for the Hammers, so the move is questionable.
