Defensively, West Ham have been pretty abysmal this season and a fair bit of that can be put down to injuries.
Aaron Cresswell missed the first three months of the season with a knee ligament injury,. His return coincided with Arthur Masuaku suffering a similar injury keeping him out for several months while Sam Byram also missed over three months of action with a hamstring tear.
And that’s just the fullbacks.
Reece Oxford and Winston Reid both struggled with injuries over the first half of the season before Angelo Ogbonna underwent season-ending knee surgery in January. Reid has recently been sidelined for another five weeks with a groin tear. It’s not been a good time to be a West Ham defender.
Cover is needed and the Daily Star report that Slaven Bilic is interesting in bringing in Hull standout Harry Maguire in the summer.
The former Sheffield United centre-back has been touted for a future England call-up following his impressive performances for the Tigers this season and would offer another quality option at the heart of the defence for Bilic.
Interest in Maguire is strong and the Hammers will face strong competition for his signature – especially if Hull suffer relegation this season.
