Beyond West Ham’s first-team starters, their options in central midfield haven’t particularly impressed as the Hammers’ lack of depth has shown at times but it appears the club have eyed up a possible summer recruit to solve their issues.
According to Calciomercato, West Ham are interested in signing Udinese midfielder Seko Fofana, but they face competition from Everton, Juventus and Inter Milan for his services.
The 21-year-old midfielder came through the ranks at Lorient before joining Manchester City in January 2013. A regular for their U23 side, Fofana failed to make a first-team appearance for the Sky Blues in his two-and-a-half-years at the club.

A former France U19 international, Fofana spent a little over five months on-loan with Fulham in the 2014/15 season, scoring once in 25 appearances which earned him another loan move the following season back to France with SC Bastia where he caught the eye of Udinese during his 33 appearances for the Ligue 1 club and he joined the Zebrette last summer in £3m deal.
Fofana has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in Serie A this season and has attracted the interest of two of it’s biggest clubs in Juventus and Inter Milan, but the Hammers are keen to bring him back to England.
It’s believed that the Hammers have been tracking Fofana for several months and that the Serie A club would be willing to do business at €10m.
