Right-back is a problem position for West Ham and has been for some time but they face some stiff competition for one of their top summer targets.
TalkSPORT are reporting that Manchester United are ready to make a summer move for impressive Saint Etienne defender Kevin Malcuit who has been heavily linked with a move to West Ham.
Sam Byram has struggled for fitness and form since arriving from Leeds a little over a year ago and Alvaro Arbeloa has been anything but a success having joined a free transfer on deadline day last summer.
It’s claimed that the Hammers had two bids rejected for Malcuit during the January transfer window after identifying right-back as an area they must improve on, worth a reported €8m and €10m respectively, but the Ligue 1 club rejected both offers.
West Ham want to bring in an experienced right-back in the summer to compete with Byram and Malcuit remains someone they’re keeping tabs on between now and the end of the season.
