Reported West Ham manager target Roberto Mancini is eager for a return to Premier League management, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Following West Ham’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City at the London Stadium, the Mirror reported that Mancini is ready to take over if the club decide to move on from Slaven Bilic.
Despite a terrific first season, Bilic hasn’t enjoyed similar success in his sophomore year in East London with West Ham often struggling for form and points.
The owners talked greatly about taking the next step and becoming perennial top six challengers but that dream hasn’t materialised yet and the club are dealing with the unexpected loss of Dimitri Payet
West Ham have also shelved new contract with Bilic in recent months given the club’s uncertain league form and position and with his deal up at the end of next season, perhaps they aren’t ready to commit long-term to Bilic’s plan.
Mancini is a proven manager at the highest level. He’s a Premier League winner with Manchester City and has managed some illustrious clubs across Europe and would be a great appointment for nearly every club in the world.
Speaking to La Stampa, Mancini confirmed that he has turned down several offers from Chinese clubs to return to management after leaving Inter Milan earlier this season and that he’s eyeing a return to the Premier League.
“I can wait a bit longer but the theory that after working for many years you get tired by doing nothing is true. Right after leaving Inter I received three offers from China, I thanked them but I postponed the matter.
“Right now I’m attracted to other leagues, especially the Premier League.”
