It would appear West Ham’s reluctance to complete a deal for Brentford’s Scott Hogan is because Slaven Bilic is content with the striking options he has at the club.
One of those options is Jonathan Calleri. Halfway through a loan spell from Uruguayan side Deportivo Maldonado, Calleri hasn’t bad the best of times in East London but the Argentine did score his first Premier League goal last time out against Middlesbrough which could be a sign that times have changed.
The Mirror are reporting that Calleri and Slaven Bilic held heart to heart talks recently regarding the striker’s future, with those talks culminating in Calleri being kept at the club for the full season.
Las Palmas were interested in signing the 23-year-old on loan for the rest of the season which would require the Hammers to cancel their current arrangement with Maldonado.
Scott Hogan was a target for the club but the reluctance to meet Brentford’s £15m asking price has meant the Hammers were not willing to allow Calleri to leave the club as there is a lack of cover.
