West Ham and Southampton declare interest in German defender

West Ham United are interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach defender Julian Korb, as are Southampton, as per a report from Kicker.

The 24-year-old can play at right back or right midfield and would provide Slaven Bilic with a versatile option if the Hammers could get a deal done.

According to the report, both West Ham and Southampton have been scouting the former German U21 international for some time and with Moenchengladbach struggling this year, they are hoping that the player might decide to make a move to England.

With only 18 months left on his contract, the Bundesliga side might look to sell the defender in January.

Korb has been with Monchengladbach since he was a young boy so a move might be something that appeals to him, although he might feel like he owes the club as they are struggling at the bottom of the Bundesliga.

As of yet, no official approach has been made for Korb but that could change in the near future.
