Dean Smith: Scott Hogan nearing Brentford exit

Now that Simone Zaza has officially left the club, West Ham have freed up space in the wage budget and gotten themselves off the hook for £20m which can been used to fund a move for another striker.

It’s been reported that the Hammers have had three bids rejected for Brentford’s star striker Scott Hogan this month, the latest worth £12m.

Brentford boss Dean Smith has stated that here have been offers for Hogan but their valuation, which is believed to be £15m, is yet to be met.

“There is speculation and we have had offers, but the valuation hasn’t been met yet. That is not to say that Scott is going,” the Daily Star quote Smith as saying.

Smith went on to say that he understands a deal is close to being agreed to sell Hogan and the decision to sell him will not be made by him.

“However, if he does end up going, and it is close I believe, then the decision was made for me.”

Hogan hasn’t featured in each of Brentford’s last two games amid rumours he could be set to leave the West London club. The 24-year-old has scored 14 goals in 25 appearances this season.
