Dimitri Payet’s shock request to leave the club and seemingly go on strike until he gets what he wants has forced West Ham’s hand to dive into the transfer market to replace him.
It appears as if the Hammers will sell Payet to the highest bidder and will look towards £40m to part ways with their star man but the hard job is reinvesting that in a replacement.
According to the Times, Lyon’s Clement Grenier is a player Slaven Bilic would like to bring to the club this month to carry the load Payet will leave behind.

Since the start of the 2013/14 season, the 25-year-old has been plagued by a series of injuries including a long-term groin injury, a fractured femur and recently a lengthy shin problem are just some of the ailments that have made Grenier miss 78 games in the last three seasons alone.
The 26-year-old has made just six substitute appearances for Lyon this season totalling just 77 minutes of football which has put his future with the Ligue 1 club in doubt.
West Ham have a number of injury-prone players at the club already and it would be a questionable move to put their eggs in another leaky basket.
