West Ham one of eleven clubs keen on Mamadou Sakho

West Ham are eager to bring in some short-term cover in January, especially while both Cheikhou Kouyate and Andre Ayew are at the African Cup of Nations.

One of the players Slaven Bilic would like to bring in on loan is Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho, according to Ghanasoccernet.

The Hammers’ interest was reported by the Daily Mail last month and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is willing to let the Frenchman leave.

Sakho has not featured in the Liverpool first-team all season after being sent home from their pre-season tour of the USA following a falling out with Klopp over behaviour and attitude issues. It’s believed Sakho repeatedly showed up late to team meetings which did not sit well with the manager.

Liverpool want any interested party to cover Sakho’s £80,000-a-week wages as well at stumping up a £500,000 loan fee, figures that the Hammers should not find any difficulty in meeting.

Lille, AC Milan and Inter Milan are all noted by the Mail as possible destinations for Sakho, while French TV programme Telefoot (h/t Inside Futbol) say no fewer than 11 clubs have approached Liverpool about a deal for Sakho.

Both Crystal Palace and West Brom are keen while Sevilla are also interested.
