Roma focussed on signing Sofiane Feghouli

Sofiane Feghouli’s nightmare spell with West Ham could be coming to an end this month.

Speaking at a press conference (h/t Football Italia), Roma manager Luciano Spalletti spoke out about the possibility of adding another winger to his squad and confirmed his interest in the Algerian.

“We are keeping a close eye on the market and the names you have mentioned so far are correct,” Spalletti told reporters.

“The focus is shifting towards Feghouli, that is true. You’re writing it anyway, so there’s no point disguising the fact. The other options have cooled rather.

“He is someone who will come to replace (Juan Manuel) Iturbe, as Torino have really reinforced their squad with him.”

It was claimed in recent days that Roma were also interested in Chelsea’s Charly Musonda and Everton’s Gerard Deulofeu but it seems Feghouli has emerged as their No.1 target.

The Serie A club are willing to take Feghouli on loan until the end of the season with an option to make the move permanent for a reported €12m – which would be a solid profit for West Ham who signed the 27-year-old on a free transfer from Valencia in the summer.

During his short tenure with the club, Feghouli has battled injuries which have restricted him to just 15 appearances for the club, most of which are from the bench and he’s yet to find the net.

With West Ham eager to shake up the squad this month, Feghouli could have to make way if other targets materialise.
