Slaven Bilic confirms Simone Zaza is ‘finished’ at West Ham

Slaven Bilic has confirmed to the media that on-loan striker Simone Zaza’s time with West Ham has ‘finished’ due to the clauses in his contract.

Desperate for a big name striker at the end of the summer transfer window, West Ham paid Juventus £5m to take Italian international striker Simone Zaza on loan until the end of the season.

Built into the deal was a clause that if he made 14 appearances for the club during his loan spell then the move would become permanent for a fee of £20m.

Through 12 appearances, Zaza is yet to score and has been a huge disappointment. Speaking today at his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s FA Cup 3rd Round clash with Manchester City, Bilic confirmed that Zaza’s time with the club is finished due to the contractual situation.

“His [Zaza’s] story with West Ham has finished because of the situation with his contract,” he told reporters.

Presumably, West Ham will not feature Zaza in a game for the rest of the season and hope to negotiate a deal with Juventus to terminate the loan contract.

The Serie A giants are unwilling to take him back so soon, so there’s a stand-off right now as both clubs wait for a third party to make their interest know but one things for sure, Simone Zaza will not play for West Ham again.
