Red Bull Leipzig striker Davie Selke is on West Ham’s radar for during the January transfer window, according to Sky Sources.
The young German U21 forward has made the shortlist for potential striker signings this month, despite only scoring twice in nine appearances so far thus season, only one of which was a start.
Stoke are also interested in the 21-year-old forward who joined Leipzip from Werder Bremen last year for £6.8m – a record transfer for the second tier of German football at the time, and went on to score 10 goals as they secured promotion to the Bundesliga.
His father has told Sky Germany: “I will not comment on any of these inquiries, but one thing is clear: we want to see a way and a perspective for Davie.
“His current situation [not playing] must not be a permanent state. The situation is not satisfactory and this is also the responsibility of RB Leipzig”.
Players such as Daniel Sturridge, Michy Batshuayi and Gregoire Defrel are tougher targets to secure, so looking at a player like Selke who is eager to play and isn’t a regular for his club side could make him a more realistic target.
