Roma rival West Ham for Clement Grenier

West ham face some stiff competition if they want to land Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier in January.

According to Calciomercato, both Roma and Fiorentina have registered their interest in the French international and are eager to take him on loan for the rest of the season.

Grenier was a highly-rated youngster at Lyon after bursting onto the scene and becoming a real first-team regular in 2013 and 2013.

However, since the start of the 2013/14 season, the 25-year-old has been plagued by a series of injuries including a long-term groin injury, a fractured femur and recently a lengthy shin problem are just some of the ailments that have made Grenier miss 78 games in the last three seasons alone.

So far this term, the five-time France international has made just four Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon without starting, totalling just 29 minutes of football this term.

Clearly out of favour currently under manager Bruno Genesio, Grenier will be allowed to leave the club on loan in January to play some regular first-team football in 2017 before his future is determined in the summer.

West Ham have offered to take him on loan for the rest of the season, but similar offers have come in from both Roma and Fiorentina. The Hammers face a tough ask to recruit the former Arsenal target.
