West Ham line up £25m January bid for Callum Wilson

West Ham are reportedly lining up a £25m January swoop for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, according to the Guardian.

The 24-year-old striker was a major hit in his debut season in the Premier League last season, scoring five goals in seven games including a hat-trick against West Ham before suffering an ACL tear which ruled him out until April.

If reports are to be believed, the Hammers made a move to sign the Englishman in the summer and offered in excess of £15m for the striker, which Bournemouth turned down.

After four goals in 12 appearances this term, Slaven Bilic is looking to turn to Wilson again to be the answer to his striker crisis.

Jonathan Calleri will leave the club in January following his dismal loan spell from Deportivo Maldonado while the club are scrambling to find a way out of their deal with Juventus for Simone Zaza who has been equally as ineffective.

Despite not featuring all season until the 3-2 defeat at Tottenham, Diafra Sakho became the first striker to score for the Hammers this season in last week’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United – but he has now been ruled out until the new year with a hamstring injury.

Andy Carroll is expected to return either tonight in the EFL Cup clash with Manchester United or at the weekend against Arsenal, but either way, Bilic is desperate to bring in another striker in January and Wilson is someone high on the shortlist.
