Who knew there would be actual football clubs clamouring to sign Jonathan Calleri in January because nothing we’ve seen in the last three months suggests that should be the case.
West Ham signed the Argentine striker on a season-long loan from Uruguayan side Deportivo Maldonado after he scored16 goals in 31 appearances whilst on loan with Sao Paulo earlier in 2016.
Yet to start a domestic league game for the Hammers, the 23-year-old has played just 129 minutes of Premier League football spread across six substitute appearances this term without scoring.

With the likes of Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll supposedly nearing a first-team return, Calleri’s place in the squad has to be questioned considering he’s the least effective option we have.
According to Fichajes (h/t Sports Mole), Sevilla and Valencia are both willing to take the former Boca Juniors striker in January, but it’s Malaga that are leading the chase for his signature.
With every intention to sign a striker in January, Calleri may have to make way in order for West Ham to do so – but who would be that disappointed if it came to it?
