Darren Randolph considering his future at West Ham

Darren Randolph has spoken out on his situation currently at West Ham and reveals he’d like to be playing more than he is, according to the Mirror.

The Republic of Ireland No.1 ‘keeper joined the Hammers at the start of last season on a free transfer from Birmingham to be the next backup and impressed when called upon.

He carried his fine form into the past summer’s Euros where his performances between the sticks for Ireland attracted the interest from several Premier League clubs, prompting West Ham to reward Randolph with a new contract.

However, he has remained the Hammers’ backup this season, playing exclusively in the Europa League and EFL Cup matches which has been frustrating for him, but he is not ready to leave the club despite admitting there will come a time when he’ll consider leaving.

“There’ll be a time when it does come – I don’t think anyone wants to just sit and not play.

“But for the time being, I’m going to stick at it. I’ve only been there a season – this is the start of my second season – I’m not just going to give up and leave and walk away from the challenge, I’m going to keep going and see what happens.

“Obviously, I’m not getting as much game-time as I would like, but I knew that was going to be the case anyway, so it’s the usual, just get your head down and get working and see what happens.”

West Ham’s current first-choice ‘keeper Adrian has come under scrutiny of late following his mistake against Stoke which led to a Bojan equaliser, costing the Hammers the win last weekend.

While Slaven Bilic has reaffirmed his commitment to the Spaniard, you ought to think he cannot afford many more mistakes or risk being permanently replaced by Randolph.
