West Ham join Brighton in race to sign attacking midfielder

West Ham have competition from Brighton & Hove Albion in their attempt to sign 15-year-old wonderkid Bilal Mohammed, as per a report from HITC.

The Hammers took the attacking midfielder on a trial earlier this season and he performed well by all accounts.

He is currently on the books of Swedish club Hammarby but West Ham are apparently keen to bring him in to the club’s academy set up but they’ll now face competition from the Championship side.

They too want to take him on trial and have asked permission to do so.

West Ham under Slaven Bilic have made a habit of recruiting talented youngsters into their academy set up. The likes of Martin Samuelsen, Domingos Quina, Ashley Fletcher and Antonio Martinez have all opted to join the Hammers in the last 15 months.

The reason being there is a clear path to the first team in East London. All but Martinez from the above players have made their first-team debuts for West Ham, along with the likes of Josh Cullen, Reece Burke, Reece Oxford and Marcus Browne who have all been used by Bilic.
