West Ham join Everton and Liverpool in race to sign midfielder

West Ham will join both Everton and Liverpool in the race to sign French midfielder Soualiho Meite.

The 22-year-old is owned by Lille but is currently on loan to Belgian side Zulte-Waregem and his performances have apparently caught the attention of West Ham and the two Merseyside sides.

According to a report in The Mirror, German sides Borussia Dortmund and Schalke are also interested in the midfielder.

Meite is a holding midfielder and is valued at around £6million but Lille will hope that a bidding war could push that price up even further.

Zulte-Waregem do have an option to buy Meite at the end of his loan deal but if there is interest from England or Germany, the midfielder can simply refuse to join the Belgian side, which is exactly what West Ham will hope he does if they do officially declare their interest.

Any deal wouldn’t be done until the end of the season, but it’s worth keeping an eye on at the very least.
