Aaron Cresswell returns to training

West Ham have been handed a major injury boost this week as first-choice left-back Aaron Cresswell has made a return to first-team training.

The former Ipswich Town defender sustained a knee ligament injury during a pre-season friendly against Karlsruher FC during their tour of Austria back in July and has been out of action since.

Slowly working on a first-team return, Cresswell has stepped up his recovery in recent weeks by partaking in U23 training before finally making the step back up to the full side.

Cresswell hoped to be ready and available for West Ham’s next game, a trip to Selhurst Park to take on 8th placed Crystal Palace.

“It feels good to be back out there training with the lads and not being stuck in the gym or the treatment room as I look to get the knee right.

“I could not have asked anymore from the physio’s, especially Eamon, our Rehab Fitness Coach who has helped me out massively over the last 12 weeks.

“It is not just the body, it is the mind as well that you have to get right. For me this is the first time I have had a long-term injury and hopefully it will be the last.

“I am looking forward to getting back in contention. I have played 50 minutes and the knee feels good. I am looking forward to next week.”

With Arthur Masuaku also out injured until Christmas with a knee injury, Cresswell’s return is great news.
