West Ham investigate where their missing cash has gone

West Ham have launched an investigation into where exactly £1.8million of their money has gone following the transfer of Arthur Masuaku from Olympiacos.

The left-back joined the Hammers from the Greek side in early August, with West Ham paying £6.8million, but as reported by Matt Scott of Inside World Football, Olympiacos are adamant that they’ve only received £5million, which raises the question of where exactly the remaining cash has gone.

A letter written by Club Secretary Andrew Pincher, which has recently been published, shows that the club have tasked Gibraltar-based agent Kenneth Asquez with finding out where their £1.8million ended up.

In the letter, Pincher accuses Olympiacos of using unidentified intermediaries in the transfer, something which they had to sign to say wasn’t the case when the transfer first went through.

Asquez has apparently returned from Greece unhappy as he feels that Olympiacos have not fully cooperated with the investigation.

It remains to be seen as to what steps West Ham take next.
