Reece Oxford stalling on new West Ham contract

Reece Oxford is believed to have stalled on signing a new contract with the Hammers amid interest from Manchester United, say the Daily Mail.

Last week, Oxford penned a new long-term deal with Nike which made him one of the highest-earning teenagers signed by the sportswear giants.

Oxford became West Ham’s youngest ever player when he featured in the Europa League qualifiers last summer aged just 16 and went on to make 12 first-team appearances in a breakthrough season.

West Ham are eager to tie the 17-year-old down to a long-term deal but talks over a new contract have come to a halt, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2018.

Manchester United remain in pole position to sign the England U19 star next summer, with both Manchester City and Arsenal also keeping tabs on the situation.

The Hammers turned down a £10m bid for their talented youngster from Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig in the summer and will not entertain offers as he is strictly not for sale.
