West Ham have launched an investigation into the transfer of Arthur Masuaku from Olympiakos, according to the Daily Mail.
The Hammers signed the 22-year-old defender back in the summer for a fee of £6.2m the club announced and Masuaku has made a strong impression in East London in the absence of Aaron Cresswell.
However, the club fears they may have overpaid for Masuaku by £1m and have sent a club representative to Athens to investigate further.
The belief is that West Ham have paid someone as part of the transfer who wasn’t declared on the official transfer document.

Co-Chairman David Gold and club secretary Andrew Pitcher have tasked the investigator with trying to identify the person who has received commission from the deal as they fear the Frenchman’s transfer fee was inflated and they want to ascertain that the deal was conducted in a professional manor on both ends.
Whether the have or have not overpaid for Masuaku, the young defender has been a great addition to the squad just four games into his Hammers career and is well worth the fee.
