According to the Express, West Ham are hoping to complete a double loan swoop for Calum Chambers and Wilfried Bony before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
Today, the Hammers officially welcomed Simone Zaza from Juventus on a season-long loan with an option to buy but are still in the market for another forward with Enner Valencia’s future up in the air.
Bony is a player West Ham have been keen on in the past but have never successfully been able to lure to East London. With his City career seemingly coming to an end, perhaps the time is now for West Ham to finally seal the deal.
As for Calum Chambers, he’s set to leave Arsenal on loan as he’s been pushed further down the pecking order following the arrival of Rob Holding from Bolton, plus Valencia star Shkodran Mustafi is also believed to be close to a move to the Emirates.
West Ham are expected to send Reece Burke out on loan in the next few days, who has been filling in as a versatile defender lately, and should he leave the club the Hammers are eager to bring in a defender on loan to fill the void.
Given Chambers’ ability to play right-back and centre-back, he could provide competition for Sam Byram and right-back as well as the first-team centre-backs, much like James Tomkins did before he left.
