West Ham eager to sign Calum Chambers on loan

West Ham are one of eight clubs to have made an enquiry into signing Arsenal defender Calum Chambers this summer, according to Squawka.

The three-time England international has been made available on a season-long loan according to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger with Arsenal closing in on the £35m signing of German international centre-back Shkodran Mustafi.

Squawka understand that Premier League sides West Ham, Stoke, Middlesbrough and Hull City have all made contact over signing Chambers, while there is wider interest from across Europe.

La Liga clubs Valencia and Espanyol are keeping tabs on the situation while Serie A outfits AC Milan and Roma are also keen.

A £16m signing from Southampton in 2014, Chambers sees his long-term future at centre-back and wants to play regular football this season to aid his development.

The Hammers are short of cover at the back after selling James Tomkins and would like Chambers to replace him in the squad.
