Bilic confirms Bony is an option for West Ham

At today’s pre-match press conference ahead of West Ham’s Europa League play-off second leg with Astra Giurgiu, Slaven Bilic confirmed West Ham’s interest in Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony.

Bilic confirmed that there are a couple players the club are dealing with and hope to make a signing or two due to injuries.

The Ivorian striker has been linked with the Hammers throughout the summer since Pep Guardiola arrived at the Etihad. The Spaniard doesn’t have a place for Bony in his first-team and is eager to sell him.

Since his £24m arrival from Swansea in January 2015, Bony has only found the net 10 times and is believed to be set for a move to China in January.

City are willing to loan out Bony for the first half of the season to get some of his wages off the books and him out of the club, with West Ham one of a few clubs interested.

Now, with injuries blighting the squad, Slaven Bilic has confirmed that Bony is a possibility for the Hammers, but leaves negotiations up to the Chairmen and Tony Henry.

“He (Bony) is also an option because he plays in the position we are looking for. I leave negotiations to the Chairman and Tony Henry. I just say to the Chairmen and they do…” he told reporters this morning.

West Ham take on Manchester City this Sunday, so it’s unlikely a deal will be reached before then for strategic reasons, but it’s almost certain Bony will leave the club in some capacity by next week.
