According to Italian source Calciomercato, West Ham have turned down an offer from Fiorentina to sign midfielder Pedro Obiang this summer.
Obiang wants to stay and fight for his place in the first team, according to what he says on Twitter, but whether he’ll get the chance to do so remains to be seen.
The Spaniard signed for the Hammers last summer from Serie A side Sampdoria for a fee in the region of £5.1m and made 30 appearances for the club last season, only 16 of which were starts.
Having started his career with Atletico Madrid, the Spanish midfielder to Sampdoria in 2008 and spent his entire professional career in Italian football before making the move to the Premier League last summer.
Fiorentina seem keen to complete a deal for West Ham midfielder Pedro Obiang according to Gianluca Di Marzio, and are ready to offer £5 million for the holding midfielder which is believed to have been rejected.
Tuttosport claimed earlier this week that the Hammers would be open to selling Obiang this summer, and West Ham have set the asking price at €8m (£6.9m).
West Ham are open to the idea of Obiang, as Slaven Bilic looks to bring in new signings to further strengthen his squad this season.
