The 20-year-old striker signed for West Ham on a four-year contract this summer after his deal with Manchester United came to an end. It’s believed a compensation package worth £500,000 was agreed as part of the move.

Championship side Leeds, as well as Barnsley and Wolves were interested in signing Fletcher this summer but he opted to join the Hammers.

He came on to make his Hammers debut after an impressive pre-season against NK Domzale in the Europa League third qualifying round and is tipped to have a big future at the club.

Leeds want to bring Fletcher in on a season-long loan to help them on their promotion push from the Championship but with West Ham’s injuries mounting up, it’s unlikely Slaven Bilic will let Fletcher go.

Diafra Sakho’s future is up in the air, not to mention he’s short of match-fitness. Andy Carroll is always one wrong step away from an injury while new signing Jonathan Calleri has only made one appearance for the club.

Fletcher could play a big role for the Hammers this season but if he’s not going to feature regularly enough, perhaps a loan move is wise.
