Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that he has received an offer from West Ham for the services of Rachid Ghezzal.
Aulas has confirmed that West Ham have made a bid for the winger, but refused to go as far as saying whether it has been accepted or rejected.
He has also claimed that Ghezzal doesn’t want to leave Lyon, with contract talks ongoing between the two parties.
Speaking to L’Equipe, via Inside Futbol, Aulas said this:
I held his hand, and spoke with him; He wants me to talk to his advisers, and I will call them this week to break the deadlock.
It would be great if we can reach an agreement, but we have received offers for him from West Ham.
I know Rachid doesn’t want to leave Lyon so we have to find an agreement, as this situation is neither good for him nor for the club.
Ghezzal has just one year left on his Lyon contract, so would be able to leave on a free next summer if no new deal is agreed.
West Ham are hoping to make use of the situation, which is why they have now tabled a bid. However, going by what Aulas has said, the bid is unlikely to be accepted by the Ligue 1 side.
Ghezzal scored ten goals and managed nine assists in Ligue 1 last season, which has also attracted interest from Everton and Southampton.
