West Ham have made contact with Mario Gomez’s representatives over a possible summer move, according to Italian source Tuttosport.
Despite a stunning season on loan with Besiktas where he scored 27 goals across all competitions, Gomez rejected a return to the club on a permanent basis earlier this month due to the civil unrest in the Turkey.
The 31-year-old doesn’t feature in Fiorentina’s plans going forward and he will leave the club this summer, and Gomez wants to decide on his next destination.
It’s understood that Gomez has asked the Florence club’s permission to miss their upcoming pre-season training camp in Austria so he can complete a move.

West Ham have been struggling to sign a striker this summer and had previously considered a deal for Gomez unlikely because the feared his wage demands would be too high but now the Hammers appear willing to reopen talks over a move and the Italian club believe a deal is likely to be reached with a Premier League club.
Contact has been made with the Serie A club and Gomez’s representatives over a summer move. Fiorentina are looking for around £4m to sell the striker this summer.
