West Ham will target Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez if their pursuit for AC Milan star Carlos Bacca fails, according to Gazetta World.
The German international has been on loan to Turkish side Besiktas from Serie A’s Fiorentina, but has confirmed that he won’t return to the country due to unrest in the country. He only has one year left on his contract.
Bacca is still the sides number one target this summer, but multiple clubs are said to be interested in the AC Milan striker. 31-year-old Gomez would most probably be the cheaper option to sign, although he will also be wanted after having a successful Euro 2016 with Germany.
Gomez scored 26 goals in 33 league games for Besiktas, the top scorer in the Turkish League last year. He also has the impressive record of 75 goals in 115 league games for current Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
On the hand, the 29-year-old Bacca scored 18 goals in 38 Serie A games with AC Milan, but the Colombian hasn’t spent more than two seasons at a club since his time at local side Atletico Junior.
