Juventus turn down West Ham loan bid for Mandragora

West Ham have had a loan bid for Juventus star Rolando Mandragora rejected by the Serie A giants, according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 19-year-old, who signed for the Old Lady from Genoa in January for an initial €6million, spent the second half of last season on loan to Serie B side Pescara and West Ham reportedly asked Juve if they’d be willing to loan him out again.

The Italian U21 international is comfortable playing as either a defensive midfielder or a centre -back, although he was mainly used in midfield last season.

According to the report, the Hammers requested to take him for the 2016/17 season but were met by a quick refusal, which could indicate that Massimiliano Allegri is planning to use him in the first-team squad next season.

That Slaven Bilic is looking at a youngster to provide cover in those areas could be a suggestion that Reece Oxford might leave the club this summer, although that is far from confirmed
