Sakho interested in Sunderland move despite other interest

The Sunderland Echo are reporting that Diafra Sakho is more tempted to join Sunderland for a reunion with Sam Allardyce, rather than making a switch to anywhere else, with Crystal Palace, Watford and West Brom interested.

The search for Sunderland’s first signing of the summer is still ongoing, as former Newcastle United left-back Davide Santon’s switch from Serie A side Inter Milan fell through last week.

The Black Cats’ other priority in the transfer window rather than a defender, is a striker, with Hammers forward Sakho handing in a transfer request at the East London side to force through a move to Sam Allardyce’s side.

It was only last month that West Ham rejected an offer from Sunderland for Sakho, and it’s no certainty that the move for the forward to his wanted club will go through, with several Premier League sides interested.

Sakho is said to be in favour of a move to the Olympic Stadium, to work under the manager who brought him into the Premier League back when Allardyce was in charge at the Boleyn Ground.
