Chelsea reach agreement with Marseille for Batshuayi

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Marseille for the transfer of Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi, according to L’Equipe.

It is thought that West Ham upped their bid to €39million yesterday, while Spurs also improved their initial offer, but it was too little too late. Chelsea have agreed to pay €40million for Batshuayi and a transfer should be concluded in the coming days.

Of the €40million, Marseille receive just €28million due to an agreement with Standard Liege made when Batshuayi first arrived. The Belgian outfit will pocket €12million.

French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi says West Ham had reached an agreement with Marseille for Batshuayi and the deal was set to go ahead, until Chelsea swooped with an eleventh-hour bid.
On to the next one for the Hammers.
