Galatasaray make season-long loan bid for Enner Valencia

Galatasaray have made an offer to West Ham to take Enner Valencia on a season-long loan with a view to buy next summer, according to Turkish source HaberTS.

West Ham are well-known to be in the market for a striker this summer with their big-money moves for the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Alexandre Lacazette and Mauro Icardi making the headlines.

In the likelihood the Hammers signing another forward, one from our current ranks will have to make way and at the moment the most likely candidate to do so is Enner Valencia.

Trabzonspor are also interested in signing the 26-year-old striker this summer, but their Super Lig rivals Galatasaray have also made a move to sign Valencia, offering the East London club €1m to take him on loan for the 2016/17 season with a view to buy next summer.

Serie A side AS Roma have also inquired into the availability of the Ecuadorian this summer, however, the Hammers are believed to have informed Roma that they are looking for €21m (£17.5m) to part ways with Enner Valencia.

The striker netted four times in 19 appearances last season in a campaign heavily hit by injury, but a return of just 10 goals in 61 appearances in two years is not the return David Gold and David Sullivan were expecting.

His lack of club form doesn’t translate to the international stage. The Hammers signed Valencia after he scored all three of Ecuador’s goals at the 2014 World Cup, and the 26-year-old scored twice in four games at this summer’s Copa America taking his tally for Ecuador to 16 goals in 29 games.

West Brom were said to be scouting Valencia at the Copa America ahead of a summer move, while talk of a move to Swansea is ‘nonsense’. There is strong interest from the Bundesliga in the striker, who can also operate on the wing, but Turkish side Trabzonspor have made their interest known in the West Ham man.
