West Ham United are keeping a close eye on Spanish playmaker Juan Mata, according to Spanish newspaper El Confidencial.
The Manchester United midfielder has been very influential since joining in 2014 but the club;s new manager Jose Mourinho isn’t a huge fan of his.
Before his move to Manchester in January, Mata played at Chelsea with Mourinho as his boss. The pair seemingly didn’t get along and as soon as Mata got dropped from the first team, he started looking for a way out of the club. Manchester United granted his wish but now Mourinho has followed him and it looks as though he is on the move again.
West Ham United are the team leading the chase according to the report and Mata would be perfect for the Hammers. With their move to the Olympic Stadium coming up, the West Ham owners have promised the fans a marquee signing of a player worth around £30m.
A few seasons ago, this transfer may have looked like a joke but West Ham now have European football and a great squad so it no longer seems too far fetched.
