West Ham are in talks to sign Canadian midfielder Atiba Hutchinson, as per Talksport.
The 33-year-old has spent his last three years in Turkey playing for Besiktas after a successful spell at PSV Eindhoven.
However, it looks as though Hutchinson may be on the move again. West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has worked with the Canadian before at Besiktas and is apparently a fan of his.
Hutchinson’s agent, Niclas Jensen, gave his input on the current situation and said that the Hammers aren’t the only team interested in his client.
Talks are going well but we still need time. West Ham are not, however, alone. There are other clubs that want Atiba.
Hutchinson has 12 months left on his contract and Besiktas may be looking to cash out before he can go on a free transfer next summer.
He has played 94 games since 2013, scoring only five goals but a large output is not to be expected from a player sitting in a defensive midfield position.
If Hutchinson does sign for West Ham then he may only be used as a backup. The East London side already have plenty of options in the midfield but with the potential of a long European campaign, the Hammers will need a large squad.
