Both West Ham United and Southampton will look to trigger the release clause of Newcastle United and England winger Andros Townsend in the summer if the Magpies are relegated to the Championship.
Townsend only made the switch from Tottenham to Newcastle in the January transfer window after the North East side, then managed by Steve McClaren, paid £12million for him.

However, as part of the deal, Townsend negotiated a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for just £8million in the summer if Newcastle go down.
According to Matt Law of The Telegraph, West Ham are looking for a winger to replace Victor Moses when he returns to Chelsea after his loan move ends.
If the Magpies are relegated, West Ham will have to battle off fellow Premier League rivals Southampton if they do wish to but Townsend with the South Coast club also interested in purchasing him.
