West Ham eyeing move for MLS top-scorer Adi

West Ham are weighing up a summer move for Portland Timbers striker Fanendo Adi.

According to Africanfootball.com, the Nigerian forward hs caught the eye of Slaven Bilic who’s certainly in the market for a striker or two when the transfer window opens after this season.

The 25-year-old has spent time in the Ukraine, Denmark, and Slovakia but has finally found a home in the MLS after joining the Portland Timbers on loan in 2014 from FC Copenhagen.

So far this season, Adi has netted seven times in nine outings – the joint-best record in the MLS this season, after scoring 18 times in the league last season, and 20 times in all competitions as the Portland Timbers went on to win the MLS championship.

Adi’s impressive form of late has earned him a call-up to the Nigeria squad for their recent AFCON qualifiers against Egypt, but he is still yet to make an appearance for his country.

Unproven in European football, let alone the Premier League, it’s hard to envisage a scenario where Adi is brought in to be the main man at West Ham but he could offer a different option.

The Hammers already have two Nigerians on their books – Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike. However, both are expected to leave the club at the end of the season when their season-long loans from Chelsea and Fenerbahce respectively expire.
