West Ham target £15m swoop for Real Madrid attacker

West Ham are believed to be lining up a mega £15m move for Real Madrid winger and reported Liverpool target, Denis Cheryshev this summer.

According to the Telegraph, the Hammers hope to lure Cheryshev to the Premier League with the winger not wanted by Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu.

The 25-year-old has been with Madrid since 2002 and made a name for himself in their B side before being handed his debut in 2012 by Jose Mourinho, but he struggled to cement his place in the squad.

His big break in La Liga came during the 2014/15 season whilst on loan at Villarreal where he caught the eye, scoring seven goals and recorded ten assists in 40 games in all competitions, which was enough to earn him a squad place at Real Madrid for the coming season.

Cheryshev has earned nine caps for Russia since his debut in 2012, but with his talent and ability, he would surely be a first-team regular for his country should he be playing week in week out at club level.

He was used sparingly by Madrid in the first half of the season, making six appearances in all competitions and assisting once before being shipped out on loan to Valencia, where he made seven straight appearances, scoring three times, before picking up a hamstring injury which has ruled him out since.

The Hammers have enjoyed their best ever Premier League season many would argue, mainly down to their sublime attacking play which will see them finish with a positive goal difference for the first time and setting records for points gained and goals scored.

However, they will let both Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses leave the club when their loans from Fenerbahce and Chelsea respectively expire, which leaves them a little short in the attacking third in the wide areas.

Cheryshev would certainly provide some competition for the likes of Michail Antonio, Manuel Lanzini and Enner Valencia, but the latter could leave the club this summer if the right offer comes in for him.
