Hammers agree deal for Bundesliga star

West Ham have agreed a pre-contract deal with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Havard Nordtveit, per the Daily Star.

The 25-year-old’s contract with the German outfit will expire this summer, and there were said to be a number of Bundesliga and Premier League sides interested in the player, including Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

However, West Ham are the side that look to have agreed a deal with the highly sought after player.

Nordtveit was on Arsenal’s books as a youngster but failed to make an appearance for the first team before signing for ‘Gladbach in December 2010, where he has since made 143 league appearances for the German outfit.

Slaven Bilic recently stated that Nordtveit was a target for the club, and it now appears that the Croatian manager has been successful in his pursuit of the player.

Nordtveit will add some versatility through the middle for West Ham, with the Norweigan also capable of playing in central defence.

His European experience could also be a useful quality, having played against Manchester City in the Champions’ League earlier this season.
