West Ham linked with two Barcelona defenders

Barcelona duo Thomas Vermaelen and Marc Bartra may be looking to follow Alex Song to West Ham.

Alex Song is currently playing at West Ham on loan from Barcelona and is a massive influence to the squad, he brings confidence, experience and all round technicality.

Spanish centre-back Marc Bartra is unhappy at the Catalan club and wants a move away from Spain, according to the Metro. Marc Bartra has been unsettled for about 18 months as he has not been given a chance to really play at Barcelona. He is quite low down the pecking order with the likes of Pique, Mascherano and Mathieu all ahead of the youngster.

Bartra’s teammate Thomas Vermaelen may also be looking for a move abroad. After moving to Barcelona from Arsenal a few years ago, Vermaelen has been injury ridden. With his return to full fitness, it seems as though he also won’t be given a chance to prove his worth.

These world class defenders will help in bolstering the Hammers squad, who will be moving into the Olympic Stadium next season and will possibly have a go at European football.
