Arsenal outcast could join Hammers

West Ham United have joined the race to sign Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy, rivaling Aston Villa, Sunderland and West Brom for the Frenchman’s signature.

The 30-year-old has emerged as a target for the Hammers, according to Foot Mercato, as reported by the Daily Expressafter it was confirmed that loanee Carl Jenkinson would miss the remainder of the Premier League season through injury.

With Debuchy harbouring ambitions of European Championship football this summer with France, the former Newcastle United defender is concerned that his current amount of football at Arsenal will not do him any favours.

West Ham are believed to be interested in ending the miserable spell Debuchy has endured at the club.

The signing of the Frenchman would act as stiff competition for newly signed Sam Byram, who replaced Jenkinson after the 23-year-old’s withdrawal because of injury against Manchester City last Saturday.

Roma are also believed to be interested in securing a move for Debuchy.
