West Ham plot bid for Porto star youngster

West Ham are plotting an outrageous bid for Porto midfielder Ruben Neves, according to the Metro. Also hoping to secure a deal, which could be worth up to £22 million, are Arsenal, Chelsea and Spanish giants Barcelona.

The news comes as a result of an apparent scouting mission by West Ham, who were sent to watch the 18 year-old. Scouts from Arsenal are said to have been watching Neves for some time now.

Ruben Neves is a history maker already, as he became the youngest player in Champions League history to captain his side for a match at the tender age of just 18. He also holds the record for the youngest Portuguese player to play for the U21 side in the U21 European Championships.

Despite his age, Neves has already made 31 appearances for Porto and has represented Portugal at every level from U16 all the way up to the full senior squad for which he has made two appearances.

If West Ham were to sign Neves not only would it break the Hammers current transfer record of £15 million but it would also represent a major step forward for the club because the young Portuguese star is one Europe’s hottest prospects.
