West Ham put high price tag on striker

After speculation linking him with a move to Newcastle, West Ham have ruled out the possibility of selling former Liverpool striker Andy Carroll, unless a huge offer is made for their striker.

After signing for West Ham on a permanent deal in June 2013, the 26-year-old England international has made just 26 Premier League starts for the Hammers and has largely disappointed fans with his injury struggles.

The Hammers originally signed Carroll for a fee of £15m and amid reports that Newcastle want to bring their former forward back to the club; it is thought that they will ask any potential suitors to pay more than that original fee.

With England having qualified for next summer’s European Championships in France next summer, Carroll will be looking to play regular football in the Premier League in a bid to try and force his way into England manager Roy Hodgson’s thinking.

Whether he can stay fit for the entire season is a huge question mark for any potential buyers, especially if West Ham are going to demand such a large fee for him.
