West Ham keen to tie midfielder to long-term deal

West Ham are keen to sign Manuel Lanzini on a permanent deal once the January transfer window opens, according to Darren Witcoop of The Mirror.

The Argentinian, who is on loan from UAE side Al Jazira, has been in fine form to start the season and West Ham are keen to get him signed to a permanent deal before any other clubs can get into the bidding process.

According to Witcoop, Al Jazira value the 22-year-old at around £8million, but West Ham are hopeful of getting him for cheaper by moving early.

It makes sense for the Hammers to try and get a deal done early as if they wait until the end of the season, they face getting into a bidding war and if Lanzini continues to impress, there would likely be numerous clubs interested in signing him.

Lanzini has made nine appearances for West Ham this season, and has scored two goals.
