We must be realistic – Zarate

West Ham striker Mauro Zarate has warned fans with regards to being realistic about their expectations about West Ham this season, however he believes a top four finish is a possibility.

Speaking to ESPN, the Argentine said that Hammers players and fans must not dream of winning the title this year, however a high finish is very possible.

Zarate scored the first goal in West Ham’s 2-1 win over reigning champions Chelsea, and admitted that a top four finish is a difficult task.

The 28-year-old celebrated a personal milestone, with the opener against Chelsea being his 100th career goal and says that for a player in his position, it’s something “really important”.

He says that he was more concerned at the time about helping the team with his goal:

It was very nice to score a goal that helped the team to win against such an important team. But now we also have a very good team, at the moment we have won against all the big teams that we have played
