Reported West Ham striker target, Hull City forward Nikica Jelavic, is expected to leave the KC Stadium before Tuesday’s deadline, confirms manager Steve Bruce.
The Hammers are desperate to bring in at least one more forward into the club before the end of the transfer window next week and have revived a bid to sign the Croatian.
Slaven Bilic is a big fan of Jelavic’s from his time around the Croatian national side, and Hull manager Steve Bruce is expecting the 30-year-old to leave the club.
“We had a bid late last night. Actually, two clubs have shown their hand and with that going on I didn’t think it was right [to play him].” he’s quoted as saying by the Hull Daily Mail.
“At the end of the day, if he goes I’ve got to go with the players that are going to be here.”
“We’ll see what happens over the next 24 to 48 hours, but come Tuesday I would expect Jelavic to be gone.”
Bruce mentions a club made a bid last night for Jelavic, and ESPN understand that West Ham were that club.
West Ham have also seen a £4.9m bid accepted by FC Midtjylland for talented forward Pione Sisto, but the 20-year-old Dane has rejected the move this far, although the club are still trying to persuade him to join.
The Hammers today have also met with Javier Hernandez’s agent to try and force through a move from Manchester United.
A £10m deal + £3.5m in performance-based add-ons is in place, but it’ll come down to whether they can agree terms with Hernandez, who has a £67,000-a-week deal + bonuses on the table, but the Mexican is looking for a better deal.
Whether West Ham can get deals to sign Pione Sisto or Javier Hernandez over the line before Tuesday’s deadline remain to be seen, but expect developments in the next 48 hours.
