Serie A club make offer for West Ham striker, awaiting response

West Ham striker Mauro Zarate could well be off this summer, as Serie A side Genoa have made a bid for him.

According to Italian source Gazzetta dello Sport, Genoa have made an offer for the Argentinian and are awaiting a response from the Hammers.

They claim that the two clubs opened negotiations this week, and they are hopeful of signing the 28-year-old.

The former Lazio and Inter Milan striker is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, which makes a potential return to Italian football that much more surprising.

West Ham themselves are struggling for fit striking options, with only Diafra Sakho fit, but he managed to get off the mark this season with a late goal in the 3-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield yesterday.

Keen to bolster their attacking options, the Hammers are closing in on a deal for FC Midtjylland forward Pione Sisto.

The 20-year-old can play as a wide forward or as a winger, and is a £5m target for the Hammers, who are said to be nearing an agreement for the young Dane’s transfer.
